A Story of Hope

Meeting List A Story of Hope

The simple things became the most difficult. I was only going through the motions of life. I constantly thought only of myself and my symptoms which included heart palpitations, dizziness, tremors, blurred vision, nausea, headaches and a myriad assortment of fears and racing thoughts. I anticipated new symptoms, thought only of self-diagnosis, and constantly wondered why I was the only person in this manner.
I discovered Recovery on line and was directed me to Recovery meetings and slowly everything changed. The first surprise was that there were other people who shared my same symptoms and fears and understood and accepted me.
I soon learned to practice one of many Recovery coping techniques: "Do the thing you fear and the fear will disappear".
Today my life is not perfect, but I have so much for which to be thankful. I have a wonderful wife and family, a great job and some good friends. Most importantly, I have the respect of my wife and children and my own self-respect.
